Adolf Hitler called Munich the „Capitol of Movement“. Obviously the city was proud of this title. But why was Munich for Adolf Hitler and his followers so important? After the First World War the rise of the “Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei”, NSDAP, began in Munich. In this city the political carrier of Adolf Hitler, the later “Führer” and chancellor of the “Deutsches Reich”, started. In Munich Hitler tried the first “Putsch” with his comrades in 1923 and it was also in Munich where he was put on trial. Only ten years later the National Socialists took over the political power with Hitler at the top in the capitol of the “Reich”, Berlin. In contrast Munich became a place of pilgrimage for those who believed in the new state religion, the National Socialism. The Bavarian capitol functioned as a stage on which the NS-Regime presented itself with overboarding pathos. This historic audioguide takes you to the most important spots of the National Socialism in Munich. Still today tracks of this time can be followed whereas other traces got lost in time: representative buildings of the former political leaders, places of pressure and persecution but also places of resistance. Places that tell individual stories. Places that still keep us from resting.
